About Chillout Music
Chillout music is a calm and relaxing genre of music. While there are many genres of music that can have mellow relaxing music, chillout here mainly refers to calm electronica music. Many people call this kind of music "smooth electronica" or "soft techno." This is a very loose genre of music that was originally played in "chill rooms" on the edge of dance floors at clubs as a break from the harder dance and techno music. As is implied by the term "chillout," the music is meant to chill and relax the listener. This type of music is perfect in the background as you work, exercise, rest, etc.
